After putting in some very long hours over the last couple of weeks, I finished up the ’69 Dodge Charger/Daytona yesterday…and it went back to Brinks Racecraft to get completed. Brinks built the cage and chassis for the car, and it is amazing.
The owner of the car…”Mr. S”…wants everyone associated with the project to keep it under wraps for the most part, but since most car guys know what a ’69 Daytona looks like…I figure it’s safe to show the work I did on the body.
The body for this car was in terrible shape when it came into the shop. It had rust holes, a poorly started (and not completed) quarter panel replacement, dents everywhere, and the list goes on. It was a pretty ambitious project for me to take on, being a one-man operation. But with a whole lot of effort, determination, and persistance I managed to get it whipped back into shape. By the time it left the shop today, I had it looking like a brand new ’69 Daytona…or at least a close facsimile to one.
So now that the dust has settled, I’m really glad that I was a part of this project…and I hope ‘Mr. S’ is able to achieve the goals he’s set for the car out at Bonneville.
